Caerlaverock Castle

Using just 210 standard LEGO parts, this stylized microscale model of Scotland’s iconic Caerlaverock Castle is designed to be both accessible and satisfying—most elements can be easily sourced from an average AFOL’s collection and colors can be changed of course.

The castle rises from the center of a dark blue moat, faithfully reflecting the real structure’s water-surrounded setting. A clean green border frames the scene, evoking the surrounding Scottish landscape while keeping the presentation neat and display-friendly.

Despite its small footprint, the build focuses on character and atmosphere. The partially ruined walls, uneven rooflines, and subtle use of olive and sand-green elements suggest age and weathering, recreating the moss-covered stonework and timeworn appearance of the original castle.
