Chateau de Couches is a chateau in Burgundy, France. It blends authentic medieval fortress structures with Gothic Revival architecture. The magnificent French castle once housed the chamberlain to the mighty Dukes of Burgundy and is now in the hands of the Poelaert family who restored the castle's iconic, colorful glazed roof tiles, the crumbling ramparts and made it a luxurious castle hotel.
Read my interview with Julie Poelaert, the global manager of the chateau, to learn about the restoration efforts and how they managed to restore the colors of the glazed tiles from old black-and-white photographs.
