Castello di Gargonza, Practical Info

Castello di Gargonza in Tuscany dates back to the 13th century. It has always been more than a castle frequented by Dante Alighieri; it is a fortified medieval hamlet with a tower - a 13th century "motel" on the road to Siena or Rome. It was among the first fortified villages in Tuscany to be remodelled into a hotel in the 1970s. The castle has been in the hands of the same family since the 17th century.

Read this interview with one of the castle owners who also run the hotel to learn more about the 1970s restoration process, the history of the medieval castle and all the advantages of staying there.
